The tarot card themes for 2020

Happy 2020! ✨Numerologically-speaking, the tarot cards for this year are The Emperor {the Magnolia in the Fleurot Deck} and Death {Bay Laurel}. And since my cards are all numbered 0-77, I threw in number 22, which in my deck is the Ace of Swords.

Curious about what these themes mean, and how the heck you figure out which tarot cards correspond to a year?

The easiest way to do it is with some simple addition. So, we take the year:

2020

and we add up the individual numbers. So,

2+0+2+0 = 4

The 4th card in the Tarot is The Emperor, which is all about Structure, Stability and Foundation. So this might be a good year to review the structures in your life and see if anything needs to shift, or if you need to focus on building a stronger foundation for your work.

Then, we can also find a second card for the year by reducing back up, to the next card that would equal 4.

1+3 = 4

So the 13th card would be our second Tarot card for the year, which is the Death card {Bay Laurel}. This card is about Endings, Change and Transformation. What in your life might need to fall away or transform in some way, to make room for new things to grow or appear?

And in my deck, I numbered the cards from 0-77, so we can also look at the 22nd card in the deck, which is the Ace of Swords. This card is all about Clarity, Leadership, and Prestige. Perhaps a good thing to channel once you’ve reviewed the structure and stability in your life, and then figured out what needs to change and transform. Can you then gain the clarity to step into the leadership role you’ve been working towards?

How to figure out your own personal card of the year

We can take this method a step further, and figure out the tarot card for the year that specifically corresponds to us (and anyone that shares our birthdate!)

I’ll use my own as an example. My birthday is July 17th, so I would add my birth day and month to the current year:

7+1+7+2+0+2+0=19

And reduce this down by adding:

1+9=10

So personally, I could use both the 19th card in the deck, which is The Sun {White Sage | Success, Happiness, Vitality}, and the 10th card in the deck, which is the Wheel of Fortune {Camellia | Karma, Cycles, Destiny}. Try it out for yourself and see if the card feels accurate as the year progresses - it really can be a quite remarkable example of serendipity.

However you use the energies of these cards this year, I hope they bring you lots of positive change and transformation!
